so lisa tagged me for a meme on 6 things that make me happy. mind you this is after working today and it’s a little late in the evening, so bear with me. keep laughing at a minimum.
1.michael miller fabrics & Kona Bay Fabrics.
2. when i get that one guy or that one girl at ben & jerry’s who makes milkshakes better than the rest of the staff! actually this can apply to any restaurant, too, if you’re a regular and you know which one is the nice one who brings you your food while it’s hot. this is also usually the person who gives refills without you asking for it. it’s like they pray you get thirsty!
3. boybands……WHAT OF IT?!? it’s the nostalgia i swear. some of it i DO want to forget, but for the most part i think of them and think of a time when i didn’t have bills to pay and my biggest problem was waking up in time for school. i had a problem, a serious problem.
4. going to lancaster to hang with matt & his family (but mostly matt). i think his mom likes me even more so since she had 4 boys to deal with, so any female presence is welcome. lancaster is a much slower pace than philly, even in lancaster city near where they live. nobody’s rushing to get anywhere or do anything and it’s just great.
5. scoring the last sticky bun/sourdough/danish/muffin that i really, REALLY love. not only getting it, but hearing the person maybe one or two customers behind me in line ask for it and getting that awesome satisfaction of it being all mine. heh heh heh.
6. a really fresh, hot cup of french press coffee. after doing the starbucks thing for so long, it was just natural. i do like la colombe and chestnut hill coffee co better, though. not too dark of a roast, but something latin american or a blend. the latin american coffees are more acidic since they’re not roasted as long most of the time.
well that’s it for me. i might have some pictures of a finished top or a skirt in the coming days. i scored 4 yards of fabric on sale for about $15 in a beige color background with tiny brown and navy squares all over it. i know i have enough for a skirt or a top but not both. the top might win out, though. it’s getting cold and nobody wants to wear a cotton skirt in the middle of november in philly. if so, there’d better be one heck of a lining on that sucker!
