remember this shawl?

this was the first tudor lace shawl i had designed. i never got past this point due to losing interest, having an attention span of a squirrel at the time, & a bad case of startitis. however, i’ve come back to it. i think i’ve had my fill of sweaters FOR NOW. it’ll come back when i get tired of lace, and somewhere in there socks will make a comeback in my knitting bag. it’s all cyclical. so here’s the start of a tudor lace shawl knit in the round as opposed to the triangle i’d started in the previous version. it’s done in helen’s lace, vera is the colorway. it actually is lace, although the flash on this camera is a bit strong and it just looks muddled. i’ll try for a better pic when i get it up to a 24″ needle, or maybe my 16″ dpns. yes, you read that right. for some gobsmacking reason, there were sets of 16″ US size 4 dpns in the store. i thought they were straights….oh no. i bought a pair and figured they’d be good for pictures when i want to show off a circular-knit shawl. i actually knit with them last night for about one round before i was too afraid i’d poke myself in the belly, thigh or eyeball and switched back to needles best suited for those who don’t say “fee fi fo fum”.

i love having tuesdays off, or just a day where i don’t have to do anything. i did laundry so i put in some work on the lingerers in my project bags. the landscape shawl is one of them. once i got to the stockinette point (that really small triangle forming at the top) i was fine. the color change in the kureyon sock keeps you interested enough that you don’t go crazy doing all that seed stitch. now don’t get me wrong, i love seed stitch, but it is definitely one of those stitches where you think of the payoff while you’re knitting it. now would i go making a floor-length gown in it? maybe not.

this frost flowers & leaves was lingering for far too long, and the merinosilk is nice, but i’d start this over with some zephyr. so i took it off the needles and it met the ball winder of doom. i think i still have about 3000 yards since i bought two hanks of it and each has 1533 yards, so there’s no loss whatsoever.

i never know how to finish off blog posts with a witty saying or some resolve, so i’m just gonna tell you i’m going to look on ravelry for about an hour and a half.
goodnight.

You’re a dork! Nice ending (haha).
The hat is gorgeous, is that Gretel? I may need to make it
Ah…Vera is one of my favorite colorways! The Noro is looking pretty cool too. Knit on!
Ball Winder of Doom! WA HA HA HA HA!
Just catching up on blogs and so sorry to see your FF&L met the winder! After you’d done so much work on it! *Sniff* Sad for you, but the yarn looks amazingly beautiful . . . can’t wait to see what you’d do with it
